Dr. Michael White

Dr. Michael White is a New Orleans native who graduated from Xavier University in 1976. He received both a masters and a doctorate in Spanish from Tulane University. Dr. White began teaching Spanish at Xavier in 1980 and rose to the rank of full professor. He is also internationally known as a jazz clarinetist, band leader, composer, writer, producer, and historian who has performed throughout the U.S. and in thirty foreign countries. He is a New Orleans native who is a relative to several first-generation jazz musicians. White learned jazz from playing in brass band community parades for several years.
