Positive Vibrations presents Free Music Workshops with Water Seed & Zigaboo Modeliste May 15-17, 2017 | 4:30-6:00pm The George and Joyce Wein Jazz & Heritage Center, 1225 North Rampart Street, New Orleans Workshops will take place in the Auditorium. On-site parking is available. *Space is Limited* Registration Required: positivevibrations.org/register *May 15: Water Seed (All Ages, Children under 9 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian) The Passage of the Drum (from West Africa to New Orleans) This interactive workshop will demonstrate the journey of the drum from the West Coast of Africa to the streets of New Orleans. Students will learn basic beats, song and rhythm. Special Guest Cyril Neville. *May 16: Water Seed (All Ages, Children under 9 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian) From Classical to Hip Hop This interactive workshop will demonstrate the progress of classical music from Europe to Hip Hop. It will follow the lineage of the violin and other classical instruments from the concert hall to the digital age. Special Guest T –Ray the Violinist and Gary “The Urban Cellist” Washington. *May 17: Master Class with Zigaboo Modeliste King of the Funky Drums, Legendary Drummer of the Meters (All Ages, Children under 9 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian) This workshop is for students interested in New Orleans drumming styles, including funk, second line, traditional brass band and jazz.
